A portrait of Quinn

Sean Quinn is a well known fixture of the Irish business landscape. I recently spent a few days in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan covering a story on Quinn for German publication Capital. Seem obvious but yes the objective was to get a picture of Quinn in a setting we hadn’t seen before. I wanted him relaxed and at home seemed like an obvious choice. A little less of the business man and more of the man himself. His daughter had told me about his desire for a quick and painless shoot. Not the first time I'd heard that request. One which you are always invariably  prepared for under circumstances like this. We had time for a quick scout around the Quinn home, then prelight and we were ready. When he arrived he welcomed the idea of no jacket and tie. On recognising my fairly local accent he engaged a little easier and asked about my own business. He showed a polite interest in my independence and journey to America and back.

When I left I knew I had a picture I liked and that it had been a rare opportunity. I think I captured a morsel of a large character and story that came from a tiny village and gripped an entire nation.
